Air Fry Taco Bannock Pops Recipe

    (8 servings)

    Prep Time: 30 minutes
    Cook Time: 14-17 minutes
    Total Time: 45 minutes

    What you’ll need

    For the bannock

    • 4 cups flour, plus more if needed
    • 3 tablespoons baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • ⅓ cup cold butter, diced into small cubes
    • 1¾ cups water

    For the filling

    • 1 pound lean ground beef
    • 1 small onion, diced
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon chili powder
    • 1 tablespoon cumin
    • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon oregano
    • 1-4.5 oz can green chilies
    • ½ cup cooked black beans
    • salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1 egg + 1 tablespoon water (egg wash)

    As toppings

    • shredded lettuce
    • freshly-diced tomato
    • grated cheddar
    • black olives
    • cilantro
    • sour cream

    Cooking Instructions

    1. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl for the bannock. Mix well, then add butter. Cut the butter into the flour using your fingers until no large clumps remain and the flour mixture looks crumbly.
    2. Create a well in the center of the bowl. Add ½ cup of water and slowly incorporate it using a fork. Repeat until the water is used up, and dough is formed. Knead dough until smooth (roughly 4-5 minutes). If the dough feels sticky, add a bit more flour. If the dough feels too dry, add a bit more water. Set aside when ideal consistency is reached.
    3. Brown the ground beef in a large pan over medium heat to create the filling. Add onion, garlic and a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook until the onion is translucent, and garlic is fragrant (roughly 5-6 minutes). Add spices, green chillies, and black beans. Stir well to combine, then simmer for 8-10 minutes to allow flavours to combine. Add more salt and pepper to taste and set aside.
    4. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash.
    5. Pull apart dough into 8 equal-sized pieces. On a floured surface, roll each piece into large oval shapes with ¼-inch thickness (using a rolling pin or your hands). Fill one side of the oval with beef mixture while leaving enough space around each perimeter for the dough to be pressed together. Fold the opposite side of the dough over the filling and press the dough together around the outside edges with a fork to seal.
    6.  Brush the tops of the bannock pops with the egg wash. Line the Whirlpool Air Fry Basket with parchment paper and lightly spray with cooking oil. Place the bannock pops on to the parchment paper.
    7. Air fry in the Whirlpool® 7-in-1 Air Fry Oven at 425°F for 14 minutes, flipping halfway through. The bannock pops should be puffed up and golden in colour when ready.
    8. Turn the bannock pops onto the side with the egg wash and Air fry for an additional 2-3 minutes, watching carefully, to deepen the golden hue on top.
    9. Serve hot with your favourite toppings as suggested above.

Air Fry Tandoori Chicken Lollipop Recipe

    (5 servings)

    Prep Time: 30 minutes
    Cook Time: 30 minutes
    Total Time: 60 minutes

    What you’ll need

    • 5 Chicken Drumsticks, skin on
    • 1 clove Garlic
    • 2 small Red Chilli
    • ½ inch Ginger, peeled
    • 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
    • ½ whisked whole Egg
    • 2 tablespoons Ghee
    • 1 tablespoon All Purpose Flour
    • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
    • 2 teaspoon Tandoori Powder
    • ½ teaspoon Salt
    • 1 teaspoon Chaat Masala
    • ½ teaspoon Garam Masala
    • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
    • Cilantro leaves, garnish

You’ll need a mortar and pestle to grind together this Air Fry Tandoori Chicken Lollipop Recipe.

    Cooking Instructions

    1. Using a mortar and pestle, grind garlic, chilli, ginger and lemon juice into a paste.
    2. In a small bowl, to make the marinade, combine all spices before adding into the mortar and pestle and grinding into the paste.
    3. To create the lollipop drumsticks, use a sharp knife to cut around the bone just below the drum of meat.
    4. Scrape down and off any excess meat and cartilage to create the stick of the lollipop. Push the meat forward into a tight ball to make the lollipop shape.
    5. To have the drumsticks stand up on their own, you may need to slightly trim the bottom of the ball of meat to create an even stand.
    6. In a large bowl, mix and marinate the meat with the spice paste. Add in the egg and half of the ghee.
    7. Dust over the all-purpose flour and cornstarch onto the drumsticks and until they are well coated. Add in the remaining ghee and mix the chicken lollipops well.
    8. Stand the drumsticks in the Whirlpool® Air Fry Basket, ensuring they are not touching and are spread out well.
    9. Using Whirlpool® Air Fry Mode, Air Fry at 400℉ for 25 minutes on the middle rack.
    10. Add a foil lined baking sheet underneath the Air Fry Basket for easier cleanup and to catch any drippings.
    11. Air Fry until the outside is crispy and the internal temperature is 165℉.

    Enjoy!
